Divinity has been involved with the Redeemer Crisis Center for more than 12
years. We began our partnership on a small scale by packing food bags for
Thanksgiving and Christmas and by helping at one of their month community
dinners.
Next we threw a baby shower for the Crisis Center. Collecting all of
those baby gifts was such fun! Diane Zellmer, the director of the center, came
with several of the high school students to talk to us about the Crisis Center
and their various needs.
Divinity members, and especially our youth, soon embraced Redeemer Crisis
Center with a passion! We expanded our commitment by helping out at Redeemer's
Vacation Bible School. This vacation bible school mission has become a favorite
of Divinity's members and friends alike.
Preparing and serving the monthly community dinners is also a popular event. Getting to know the guests at the dinners is a favorite with many of us. Collecting clothing and household goods is another of our missions.
Members not only take these to Redeemer, but also volunteer many hours helping to move, deliver and disseminate the goods. We of course never forget the holiday food packing and rejoice when there is much food to pack in each bag.
Our Christmas Giving Tree provides a happy holiday for some of Redeemerʼs children each year and many Divinity members and friends help to pass out the food and gifts during the holidays.
As you can see, there is an opportunity for every age group to help. Won't
